Art of Reading: Dramatizing Literacy
"The art of reading refers to the act of representing and interpreting text through dramatic reading. To the dismay of many teachers, reading is becoming a "lost art." Students are expected to apply specific literacy techniques rather than use their imagination to learn to enact text. Based on a study of the reading perceptions of natural dramatic readers, this article explores the use of interpretation to transform reading into an aesthetic experience which promotes personal engagement, and create a learning atmosphere where comprehension is natural and relevant to the reader. If we indeed desire to "leave no child behind" we must acknowledge the uniqueness of each child and provide all students with a means to express that uniqueness during literacy learning. The use of dramatic interpretation as part of the reading process validates the experience of the reader..." ~ Dr. Neva V. Cramer, Assistant Professor, Education, Schreiner University

Conceptual Integration
The teaching of reading, speaking, writing, phonetics and interpretive literacy is often conceptually passive for children. The manner in which these disciplines are presented to your child is historically segregated. Lacking integrated comprehension, speaking, listening and writing facilities, your child's powerful and inherent creative potential will be diminished. In response to this widening conceptual deficiency, colleges and universities now place primary emphasis on integrating these aptitudes, which the newly designed SAT reflects. As an adjunct to the work of dedicated teachers, our "living theater" storybooks embrace the full spectrum of reading, writing, grammar, and conceptual English literacy. Please read:
". . .A new addition to the SAT will be the writing section which will contain a short-essay that will ask the student to develop a point a view on an issue and use evidence to support their argument. Included in this section, there will also be some multiple-choice questions mainly based on English grammar. . ."
". . .Each edition of the SAT now includes Critical Reading - two 25-minute sections plus one 20-minute section, with emphasis on critical reading, reading comprehension, sentence completions, and paragraph-length critical reading. . ."

Enchanting By Design
The creation of our theater storybook DVD's is not unlike dramatic productions in other media. Each story is scripted in screenplay format and "acted" using similar staging techniques. Traditional motion however, is replaced by exquisite storybook imagery and subtle visual effects. Character's dialog is interlaced with expressive narration matching each storybook's text word for word. These incomparable editions engage your child's mind and imagination, providing them the freedom to visualize each captivating story, making it their own.
